Malaysian authorities rescue crew on Singapore-registered boat

LANGKAWI - A Singapore-registered boat which was drifting in the open sea following an engine failure had been rescued by the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) on Thursday, reported New Straits Times.
There were three crew members on the vessel named Power Yacht Sonamara. One of them is 56-year-old Singaporean Doreen Lai. The other two are Indonesian Sulipto Joni Anwar, 44, and Filipino Ferdinand Reyes, 24.
The boat was on its way to Phuket, Thailand, when the engine failed. It drifted in the open sea for two hours before MMEA came to the rescue after receiving distress calls from the crew members.
