IN PUTRAJAYA - Malaysia and the Philippines will soon install a dedicated hotline for better cooperation on security and intelligence matters, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said on Friday.

The announcement, made during a joint press conference between Datuk Seri Najib and Philippines President Benigno Aquino, comes as tensions increase over territorial disputes in the South China Sea.

Mr Aquino is on his first state visit to Malaysia since being elected to office last May.

"To ensure a high degree of deterrence to security incidents, we need to ensure immediate interdiction on both sides," Datuk Seri Najib said.
