ALOR SETAR (THE STAR/ ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - Three state executive councillors have relinquished all posts in the opposition Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) in protest against being dropped as candidates for the May 5 polls.
Mr S. Manikumar, Mr Tan Chu Kang, and Mr Lim Soo Nee said they were frustrated with the party's leaders for dropping them without prior notification.
"The leadership did not even have the courtesy to call, or at least send SMS to inform us that we would not be defending the seats," said Mr Manikumar on Monday at a press conference.
The three quit all posts in PKR but remained as ordinary party members as they did not want critics to accuse them of jumping ship for money, he added.
"We are leaving with our dignity and pride intact."
