KUALA TERENGGANU (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - Terengganu Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) has decided to withdraw three of its candidates contesting in seats which clash with Parti Islam SeMalaysia (PAS).
State party chief Azan Ismail made the announcement here on Monday and urged PKR supporters to vote for the PAS candidates in Kota Putera, Seberang Takir and Bukit Besi state seats.
PKR has yet to state its stand on the remaining overlapping seats in the parliamentary constituency of Labuan and state constituencies of Sungai Acheh, Kota Damansara and Panti.
Meanwhile, in Kuala Lumpur, PAS called off a scheduled press conference to announce its stand on the overlapping seats.
PAS vice-president Salahuddin Ayob said the issue would be brought up for discussion by the leadership in the "next few days" with an announcement to be made at a later date.
He said the issue of overlapping seats was an isolated incident that did not affect PAS' cooperation within Pakatan Rakyat.
