KUALA LUMPUR - A short but severe thunderstorm in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday evening left several roads in the Malaysian capital under water, causing traffic snarls just as commuters were hitting the roads after work.
One tree was uprooted in the parking lot of the National Mosque, a spokesman for the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department operations room told Bernama news agency.
The department was working on removing the debris, he said.
"Among the badly congested roads were Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Duta, Jalan Mahameru, Jalan Kuching and the Federal Highway," he added.
The thunderstorm lasted for about one hour from about 5.30pm. The flooded roads included Jalan Parlimen, Jalan Pudu, Jalan Cheras Lama, Jalan Chan Sow Lin and Jalan Segambut.
