JAKARTA: Haze was back on Wednesday morning in Pekanbaru, the capital of Indonesia's Riau province.

It is unlikely to blow towards Singapore, however, as the prevailing winds will carry the smoke southwards rather than towards Singapore, an Indonesian official told The Straits Times.

Pekanbaru's airport reported flight delays on Wednesay, due to the thick smoke that came from plantation and forest fires in the province.

A Silk Air flight from Singapore, that was scheduled to arrive at 8 am (9am Singapore time) at the Sultan Syarif Kasim II airport, was delayed after visibility level fell to 800 metres, state news agency Antara reported.
