Hawkers, coffee shops in Malaysia start to raise prices
GEORGE TOWN (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - Just one day into the new year, the price hikes have already begun in Malaysia.
Several hawkers have raised their prices in view of the escalating costs of ingredients and other relevant items.
Char kway teow seller Lim Teong Lean, 38, said he had to increase his prices as he could not afford to absorb the rising costs any more.
Each plate of char kway teow is now priced at RM3.50 (S$1.35), an increase of RM0.50 from a week ago.
