JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) - An Indonesian court has sentenced a former central bank official to three years in jail on corruption charges stemming from a high-profile scandal.

Presiding Judge Gusrizal of the country's Corruption Court says 63-year-old Miranda Swaray Goeltom was found guilty on Thursday of bribing lawmakers responsible for vetting candidates for a top Bank Indonesia post in 2004.

Goeltom was arrested in June for conspiring with businesswoman Nunun Nurbaetie in paying US$2.2 million (S$2.7 million) in bribes to legislators to vote for her. She was eventually selected to the post.

The five-judge panel also fined Goeltom US$11,000.
