Dry spell in Malaysia triggers fires on top of Penang Hill
GEORGE TOWN - The drought over the past few weeks in Malaysia has triggered three fires at the peak of Penang Hill, the Bernama news agency reported on Wednesday.
Penang's Fire and Rescue Department was alerted to the fires by members of the public on Tuesday evening. its director Azmi Tamat told Bernama.
"A team of 20 firemen from the Jalan Perak and Bagan Jermal stations were sent to two of the locations," he said on Wednesday.
The fire-fighters took more than 12 hours to extinguish the flames at two locations as they were hampered by the lack of water, he added.
