Buy SPH photosMANILA, Philippines (AP) - Philippine police say an acclaimed Australian yacht designer was hacked to death inside his residence in the country's north.
A neighbor found the body of the 81-year-old Joe Adams and blood scattered over the floor of the house that was left open early on Monday.
The Cordillera region's police director Benjamin Magalong said on Wednesday it appeared that the victim tried to fight off attackers armed with a machete.
He said police are investigating the motive for the killing and that forensic experts are examining possible fingerprints left by the suspect or suspects.
