6.1-magnitude quake hits off central Indonesia: USGS
JAKARTA (AFP) - A strong 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of central Indonesia on Monday, the US Geological Survey said, but local seismologists ruled out any threat of a tsunami.
The quake struck at 0916 GMT at a depth of 18km, more than 160km south-southeast of Gorontalo in central Indonesia's Sulawesi island.
