6 die from drug overdose in KL music festival, 2 Singaporeans remain critical

KUALA LUMPUR - Six Malaysians died from drug overdose while catching the Future Music Festival Asia concert in Kuala Lumpur, while two Singaporeans and one other Malaysian remain in critical condition, Malaysian police said on Saturday.

"The six who died were locals, aged between 19 and 28, and were pronounced dead on the way to the University Malaya Medical Centre and the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre early this morning," Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Mohmad Salleh was quoted as saying by news agency Bernama.

Their names are Kamal Zekry Kamal Basha, 22, Victor Wong E Hern, 26, Sabreena Kamaruddin, 21, M.Suresh, 28, Syazana Sohaime, 23, and Nor Faizza Mohd Wazir, 27.

"The six victims who died were believed to have taken the drug methamphetamine before going to the concert.
