US stocks mostly climb on robust earnings
NEW YORK (AFP) - US stocks scored mostly solid gains Tuesday after a batch of better-than-expected company earnings, but Yahoo! and cloud computing group VMware weighed on the Nasdaq.
In closing trade, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 73.03 points (0.53 per cent) at 13,954.96.
The S&P 500, a broad measure of the markets, advanced 7.72 points (0.51 per cent) to 1,507.90.
The tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index edged down a mere 0.64 point (0.02 per cent) to 3,153.66.
