US stocks end mixed on Wednesday

Buy SPH photosNEW YORK (AFP) - United States stocks closed mostly higher on Wednesday after some upbeat data on the huge services sector, but market chatter about Apple's prospects weighed on the tech-rich Nasdaq.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 82.63 points (0.64 per cent) at 13,034.41 in closing trade.
The S&P 500-stock index rose 2.22 points (0.16 per cent) to 1,409.27 while the Nasdaq Composite dropped 30.00 (1.12 per cent) to 2,973.70.
Heavyweight Nasdaq member Apple tumbled 6.4 per cent.
