Straits Times Index ekes out gains

Share prices on the Singapore bourse rose with the benchmark Straits Times Index ending the day higher by 5.30 points or 0.2 per cent to 2,950.93.
Most Asian bourses also climbed higher on hopes that the United States could resolve its policy gridlock to avert a "fiscal cliff."
Gainers led losers 207 to 152 while 438 counters were unchanged.
Turnover stood at 1.50 billion shares worth $947.6 million.
