Singapore wholesale trade dips in second quarter
Singapore's domestic wholesale trade dipped 1.1 per cent in the second quarter of this year compared to the same period a year ago, according to figures released by the Department of Statistics on Tuesday.
The general wholesale trade, transport equipment, and household equipment and furniture sectors registered double-digit declines in domestic sales, which were somewhat offset by increases in the electronic components and telecommunications and computers sectors.
Foreign wholesale trade also fell by 1.4 per cent over the same period, partly due to a fall in foreign sales of petroleum and petroleum products, the department said.
Other sectors that experienced double-digit declines in foreign sales included household equipment & furniture, ship chandlers & bunkering, and telecommunications & computers.
