Singapore shares open lower on Wednesday

Singapore shares opened lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index at 3,257.37, down 0.36 per cent, or 11.76 points.

About 222 million shares exchanged hands.

Losers beat gainers 99 to 60.
