Singapore shares open higher on Friday

Singapore shares opened higher on Friday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index at 3,098.54, up 0.66 per cent, or 20.34 points.

About 157.7 million shares exchanged hands.

Gainers beat losers 120 to 40.
