Goals by Raul Garcia and Diego Costa were enough to give Atletico Madrid a 2-0 win over a Singapore Selection side in the Singapore Olympic Foundation-Peter Lim Charity Cup at the Jalan Besar Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Garcia opened the scoring in the 29th minute with a cool, first-time shot, before Costa bundled the ball home from close range three minutes from tine.
Tanjong Pagar United's Ahmad Latiff Khamarudin came close to grabbing a late consolation goal, but his long-range effort in stoppage time was touched onto his crossbar by Atletico goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo.
A total of $756,143 was raised through the match - all of which will go to the Peter Lim Scholarship fund, which was introduced in 2010 to help promising young athletes from low-income families.
