SINGAPORE (Reuters) - Singapore will release advance GDP estimates for the fourth quarter and whole of 2013 on Jan 2, the Ministry of Trade and Industry said on Thursday.

The economy has performed better in 2013 than the previous year. According to a central bank survey of economic forecasters released this month, Singapore's gross domestic product probably expanded 4.7 per cent in the fourth quarter from a year ago, bringing growth for all of 2013 to 3.8 per cent.

The wealthy city-state's economy grew by just 1.3 per cent in 2012.

As has been the practice in recent years, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will probably provide some details of Singapore's recent economic performance ahead of the ministry's announcement when he gives his New Year message on Dec 31.

Singapore's advance GDP numbers are computed largely from information from the first two months of the quarter and are prone to major revisions when detailed estimates are available later.
