SEMBCORP Marine ended a week marred by a serious yard accident with some better news, financially at least, as it reported two new rig orders that further boosted its record order book.
The contracts are from Mexican oil and gas company Integradora de Servicios Petroleros Oro Negro, which will fork out a combined US$434 million (S$532.5 million) for two jack-up rigs. The deals were secured by SembMarine subsidiary PPL Shipyard and the rigs will be based on PPL Shipyard's PPL Pacific Class 400 design.
The rigs will be capable of operating in deeper waters of 122m and will be equipped to drill high pressure and high temperature wells to depths of 9,144m.
The latest contracts mean that SembMarine has secured $11 billion worth of new orders this year. Its net order book stands at a record $14 billion.
