A NEW series of coins featuring national icons and landmarks will be issued by the central bank in the middle of this year.
The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) announced that the Singapore Third Series coins will feature the Merlion, the Port of Singapore, Changi Airport, public housing, and the Esplanade. Denomination numerals on the new coins have also been enlarged.
They are designed by local designer Fabian Lim.
The previous series, which featured local plants and flowers, will be phased out over approximately four years. The Garden Series coins were issued in 1985, and fast approaching the approximately 30-year tenure for coins.
