DBS Bank inaugurated its new headquarters at the Marina Bay Financial Centre this morning. Its new premises will house more than half of its 8,000 employees.

Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam was the guest of honour. Mr Tharman, who is also the Finance Minister and the Monetary Authority of Singapore chairman, said that despite challenges emanating from the developed markets, there are plenty of growth opportunities in Asia.

"The underlying drivers for Asia and the long term growth potential remain intact. As such, the demand for financing will grow," he said.

He added that while DBS is well positioned to capture this Asian growth, he hopes that the bank remains rooted in Singapore.
