BEIJING (REUTERS) - China's exports grew 25 per cent in January from a year ago, the Customs Administration said on Friday, the strongest showing since April 2011 and well ahead of market expectations for a 17 per cent rise.

Imports surged 28.8 per cent on the year in January, also comfortably ahead of market forecasts of a 23.3 per cent rise.

That left the country with a trade surplus of US$29.2 billion (S$36 billion) in January, compared with a forecast of US$22 billion and December's US$31.6 billion.
