WANG GUNG WU: EDUCATOR & SCHOLAR BOOK LAUNCH
This new book to be launched on Tuesday , celebrates the life and works of eminent educator and scholar Professor Wang Gungwu, the Chairman of the East Asian Institute at the National University of Singapore, who has published widely on the history of the Chinese diaspora in Southeast Asia as well as the history and civilisation of China. It also provides insights on his thoughts pertaining to higher education. The book is edited by Professor Zheng Yongnian, Director of the East Asian Institute and Dr K. K. Phua, Director of the Institute for Advanced Studies, Nanyang Technological University. The Guest-of-Honour is Mr SR Nathan, the former President of Singapore. Jointly organised by East Asian Institute, World Scientific Publishing and co-sponsored by the Lee Foundation.

QUILL: AN EXHIBITION OF PHOTOGRAPHS, PAST AND PRESENT OF THE WORLD OF CHIJ IN SINGAPORE

MIRACLES AND MAGIC
Acclaimed French violinist Pierre Amoyal returns with his Japanese violist wife, Yuko Shimizu, to perform the rarely-heard Bruch Double Concerto with the the Singapore Symphony Orchestra under English guest conductor Alexander Shelley. The orchestra will also perform the 1919 version of Stravinsky's The Firebird Suite.
