New York - News Corp mogul Rupert Murdoch's former wife Wendi Deng was not only unfaithful but also abusive to him, says Vanity Fair magazine.

Yesterday, Gawker website published new details from the magazine's profile of the divorce in its March issue. Citing two unnamed sources, Vanity Fair said the quick-tempered Ms Deng, 45, abused Mr Murdoch, 82, verbally and physically and he once needed emergency treatment in 2011, after she pushed him in their New York triplex.

One source said: "She got angry at him and shoved him, and he fell backwards into the piano in the living room and then onto the floor, and he couldn't get up."

Later, Mr Murdoch "made some excuse that he tripped over something in the office", said another source.
