Art companies roll out theatre treats this Christmas

Christmas parties and festivities aside, arts companies have rolled out a calendar of shows to keep people busy and happy during Yuletide season.

From sweet ballets and cherubic choirs to cheeky pantomimes and adult stand-up comedy, there is something for everyone in the arts Christmas stocking.

Wild Rice is staging its annual pantomime called Hansel & Gretel, about a brother and sister pair who get abandoned in the jungles of Mandai by their evil step-mother, a wannabe pop star who dreams of having living in a big mansion and having a career in Los Angeles.

Dream Academy is rolling out its annual Crazy Christmas, featuring the who's-who of the Singapore theatre world in a variety show celebrating old-school Hollywood. There are two versions, one "naughty" R18 version with Kumar's risque jokes, and a "nice" family-friendly version with Hossan Leong.
