May 8, 1938. The world stands on the cusp of a terrifying war. Rome is gathering to great pomp and circumstance as Adolf Hitler meets his Italian counterpart, Benito Mussolini.
But while the apartment complexes empty to join the rally, two are left behind: a harried housewife glad to have a bit of peace from her husband and six rambunctious children, and her neighbour - an enigmatic, intellectual radio broadcaster.
The two meet when Antonietta's (Ana Graham) pet parrot escapes and she must enter Gabriele's (Antonio Vega) apartment to recapture it.
