The secret to Jersey Boys actors' hit performances

If you are acting as a close-knit pop-rock band on stage, it probably helps if you are friends off stage, too.

The four South African stars of the version being staged here of hit musical Jersey Boys share an easy chemistry, judging from their backstage ping-pong competitions and quick banter.

The Tony Award-winning Jersey Boys follows the rags to riches story of the wildly successful group The Four Seasons, which produced hit songs such as Can't Take My Eyes Off You, Beggin' and Sherry.

When SundayLife goes backstage at the Marina Bay Sands' Sands Theatre, most of the lead actors are clustered around a ping-pong table amidst the clutter of scaffolding and set pieces.
