This year marks Mayday's 15th anniversary since the release of their debut album and Singapore fans will get to celebrate the occasion in a big way.

The feted and hugely popular Taiwanese rock band will perform on Sept 19 on the Padang stage at the 2014 Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix.

Entry to Mayday's gig as well as all other entertainment in Zone 4 is included with any three-day 2014 Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix ticket or Friday Zone 4 Walkabout ticket. Tickets are available for sale at www.singaporegp.sg, via the ticketing hotline 6738-6738 as well as authorised agents.

Mandopop king Jay Chou had previously performed at the Grand Prix event in 2012 but Mayday are the first Chinese rock band to headline the Marina Bay Street Circuit.

The quintet have been on a roll with their Nowhere world tour, taking their brand of affirming rock to vaunted venues such as London's Wembley Arena and New York Madison Square Garden.

Their latest album, The Second Round, swept six awards at the prestigious Golden Melody Awards in 2012, including Best Mandarin Album. To date, they have won the accolade for Best Band four times.

For the Grand Prix event, a limited number of Friday Zone 4 Walkabout tickets are currently available at $38 for Singaporeans and Singapore residents. This promotion price is available only for over-the-counter purchases at all Sistic outlets in Singapore, with a maximum of four tickets allowed per transaction. After the promotional tickets have been sold, Friday Zone 4 Walkabout tickets will be priced at $68.
