SundayLife! goes in search of the perfect sandwich
Think the humble sandwich is just pre-processed ham and cheese slapped between plain white slices of bread? Think again. Thanks to the cafes and bistros springing up around town and craving for fast and quick lunches, sandwiches are getting a gourmet makeover.
Instead of plain bread slices, sandwiches are now made with artisanal baguettes as well as speciality buns and paninis made with squid ink and spinach.
Fillings are now much posher too - ranging from Italian prosciutto and Spanish jamon Iberico to blue cheese and grilled vegetables such as blistered roast peppers and char-grilled aubergine.
