Singapore beatboxer Dharni makes his mark on the world stage

Local beatboxing pioneer Dharni Ng has released his first recorded work, C'est Dingue, available for free online.

His longtime fans might be surprised to hear the tune, whose title is French for "This is crazy" - instead of featuring just beats, melodies and audio effects created by his voice, the electronic dance track sees Dharni using synthesizers to enhance his sound.

"I'm expanding my scope," he tells Life! in a telephone interview from Dubai, where he was one of the main acts at the Tiger Translate 2013 music and arts festival.

"I don't want to just make music for beatbox fans, I want to make music for other listeners too."
