Selena Tan to produce 2nd Sondheim musical - Company

Published on Oct 22, 2012 5:38 PM

Comedienne and producer Selena Tan loves the American composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim so much that she will be producing her second Sondheim musical in a row - Company, after last year's Into The Woods.

Tan, 39, founder of Dream Academy Productions, tells Life!: "He's kind of like Shakespeare to me. I love how he's able to observe a human relationship or a human condition, and then put it in so few words, in the most laconic of fashions."

The Tony Award-winning Company, which deals with the complexities of adult relationships with a great deal of humour, will run at the Drama Centre Theatre from Nov 1 to 11.

Company is directed by actor-comedian Hossan Leong, 43, and stars the Malaysian actor Peter Ong, 36. He is supported by a cast of both familiar names (including Tan Kheng Hua, Karen Tan and Brendon Fernandez) and emerging talent (such as Seong Hui Xuan, Glory Ngim and Rebecca Spykerman).
