An exhibition recognising the talents of young Singapore artists is a welcome addition to this month's packed arts calendar.

The eagerly anticipated President's Young Talents exhibition featuring commissioned works by Singapore's most promising artists under the age of 35, opens at the Singapore Art Museum this Friday.

It presents several promising new commissions by fashion designer and artist Grace Tan, 34, multi-disciplinary artists Ryf Zaini, 32, and Zaki Razak, 33, photographic artist Robert Zhao, 30, and film-makers Boo Junfeng, 29, and Liao Jiekai, 28.

This year, some of them will be shortlisted to produce a work for the Singapore Biennale 2013, with an announcement expected in March.
