A curated exhibition of Straits Chinese artefacts heads to South Korea next month, following a showing at Paris' Quai Branly Museum three years ago.

The Peranakan World: Cross-Cultural Art Of Singapore - intended to give Koreans a peek into Nonya culture - got a festive send-off at the Peranakan Museum here this morning.

A re-creation of a traditional Peranakan wedding procession and a special Korean performance Heungcheongmu - traditionally performed by Gisaeng or Korean geishas during palace celebrations - were part of the send-off ceremony.

From March 19 to May 19, 230 artefacts, textiles and jewellery will be shown at the National Museum of Korea.
