After three years, indie coffee boutique Papa Palheta, which helped to kickstart the gourmet coffee boom, will be closing its Hooper Road outlet in Bukit Timah on Oct 21.

Owner Leon Foo, 30, says he wants to consolidate operations at the flagship store Chye Seng Huat Hardware, which opened at Tyrwhitt Road two months ago.

The 8,000 sq ft space houses CSHH Coffee Bar, where diners can watch baristas at work; The Annex, which hosts coffee appreciation classes with food pairings; and a coffee roasting area. Coffee lovers can also sign up for training courses at the coffee school C-Platform.

Papa Palheta's sister outlet is Loysel's Toy at Kampong Bugis. The company also supplies beans to various cafes and restaurants here, and exports to Malaysia too.
