Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman had to cut short his trip to Singapore on Thursday to return to India earlier because his mother-in-law died of leukaemia.

He was here to promote his upcoming concert Infinite Love to be held at Gardens by the Bay on April 30.

Interviews had to be cancelled or re-scheduled but the Indian music maestro, who is married with three children, was a picture of calm during the press conference held at Movenpick Heritage Hotel in Sentosa.

In a brief question and answer session, the globe-trotting, multiple award-winner said Singapore will always be special for him.
