Old malls along Orchard Road spruce up

Plaza Singapura will be the latest shopping mall in town to sport a new look when it reopens next month.
The 38-year-old mall at the downtown end of Orchard Road will sure be eye-catching with its new extension. Its facade is in the shape of a wave that will glow with twinkling white lights at night.
The $150-million renovation at Plaza Singapura, which took almost a year-and-a-half, integrates it with neighbouring The Atrium@Orchard's retail podium. There will now be an additional 100 retail stores in the mall.
This follows Wisma Atria's year-long, $31 million revamp, unveiled last month. Wisma's storefront has been transformed into a glittering crystalline facade with double-storey storefronts of high-end brands such as watch brand Cortina, complete with lit-up steps.
