New Hawker Masters in six categories honoured at annual awards

Hawker Masters in six categories were crowned at the Asian Masters gala dinner at Ocean Gallery, S.E.A. Aquarium at Resorts World Sentosa last night.
The annual awards, jointly organised by The Straits Times and Lianhe Zaobao, are now into their fourth year. They aim to give deserving hawkers recognition to spur them on to maintain and improve food standards.
The gala dinner's guest of honour Professor Tommy Koh, ambassador- at-large, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who is also one of the eight judges on the Hawker Masters' panel, said: "I want to ensure the survival of our hawker food. I want to elevate the social status of hawkers. I want to make cooking and selling hawker food a rewarding and socially acceptable vocation in Singapore."
The six winning hawkers run these stalls:
WHERE: Block 58, New Upper Changi Road, #01-182
OPEN: 8.30am to 1pm, or until it sells out. Closed on Mondays and Fridays.
WHERE: Block 90, Whampoa Drive Food Centre, #01-06
OPEN: 11am to 6pm (Thursdays), 11am to 9pm (Fridays to Mondays, and Wednesdays). Closed on Tuesdays.
WHERE: Block 17, Beach Road, Stall No. 6
OPEN: 7am to 3.30pm. Closed on alternate Tuesdays
Nasi briyani is available from 11am to about 2.30pm, or until it sells out.
It will be closed next Tuesday.

OPEN: 12.30pm to 11pm. Closed on Thursdays.

WHERE: Bedok Corner Food Centre, 1 Bedok Road, corner of Upper East Coast and Bedok Roads, Stall No. 31
OPEN: Noon to 6pm. Closed on Mondays and alternate Thursdays.
