Art lovers can look forward to new galleries, a Japanese auction house and pop-up art exhibitions at the Artspace@Helutrans in Tanjong Pagar Distripark next year.
Even gallerist Valentine Willie, who closed his gallery Valentine Willie Fine Art there this month, plans to return with his much-awaited Singapore Survey - his annual survey of Singapore contemporary art, and pop-up art exhibitions.
Kickstarting things is Japan's Est-Ouest Auctions, which will hold its inaugural auction in South-east Asia on Jan 25 and 26. The auction house, one of Asia's oldest, will present 334 lots valued at $11 million, including oriental art, contemporary paintings, jewellery and a Golden Tea Room, in which traditional Japanese tea ceremonies are held.
In March, prominent Indian gallery Volte is expected to open its first space in Singapore at Artspace@Helutrans. Another prominent regional gallery Richard Koh Fine Art also recently shifted its base from Duxton to Artspace@Helutrans.
