The Singapore Writers Festival is reaching out to young readers to get them hooked on books and words early.

This year's Little Lit!, a free programme with events appealing to children of all ages, is set to be the most hands-on and interactive section of the entire festival.

Parents are encouraged to join their children in some of the programmes, which will be held this weekend and next at the School of Information Systems at the Singapore Management University.

There are 12 events for the young ones to choose from, including storytelling sessions, meet-the-author sessions and hands-on activities where they can re-create their favourite literary characters or spin their own yarns.
