With Daniel Day-Lewis' recent Oscar win for playing the Great Emancipator, Billy Campbell's new TV movie portrayal will inevitably be thought of as "the other Lincoln".

But the American actor, who plays former US president Abraham Lincoln in National Geographic's Killing Lincoln, is unfazed about being compared to British-Irish Day-Lewis' star turn in Steven Spielberg's Lincoln.

Sounding calm and almost nonchalant, Campbell, 53, says over the telephone from Los Angeles: "Honestly, it's no matter to me at all. It's not very constructive to think of things like that, so people can make comparisons if they want, but it doesn't bother me."

"I was just awed by the fact that I was playing Lincoln. As an actor, you find the person on the page and that's your only objective. It's my job to knuckle down and do what I can with the role."
