Japanese java joints are heating up the bustling coffee scene, with three chains opening cafes here.

They include five-day-old Hoshino Coffee at Plaza Singapura's Atrium @ Orchard, Okada Coffee which opens this month at 100AM mall next to Amara Hotel, and SaintMarc Cafe which opens on Dec 7 at VivoCity.

These outlets not only serve Japanese coffee, which has a milder taste, they also have a variety of breads, cakes and main dishes for lunch and dinner.

Besides coffee shops, Japanese tea cafes are also entering the scene here - with Nana's Green Tea at JCube and one opening soon at Atrium @ Orchard - as well as Tsujiri Tea House opening its first outlet outside of Japan at 100AM by early next year.
