It is limiting to play a cool character, says Young And Dangerous star Him Law
Growing up, Hong Kong actor Him Law watched the 1996 hit movie Young And Dangerous and thought its lead character, a righteous gangster named Ho Nam, to be the epitome of cool.
That film about triads in Hong Kong made him think that the criminal underworld was attractive - not knowing right from wrong as a kid, he would often dream of being a hero like Ho Nam.
Almost two decades later, the 28-year-old actually takes on the same role in an update of the movie, Young And Dangerous: Reloaded, and finds out that it is not so cool to play cool all the time on screen.
He says in a phone interview with Life!: "Playing Ho Nam is most difficult. Everyone already has a pre-conceived notion of what he should be. He is restricted by that. Being him, you can't do bad things, you have to be loyal to friends, faithful in love."
