Hot trailer: Vamps lose comedic appeal with cliched scenes

VAMPS

This got me really excited - the reunion of director Amy Heckerling and Alicia Silverstone, the actress she made a star with the 1995 hit, Clueless. But from the trailer, it seems kind of, er, toothless, despite the flashing of fangs. Maybe it is because the vampire dating scene is so cliched, the set-up looks like a TV sitcom, and everybody's too old to be acting this cute.

Silverstone and Krysten Ritter (TV's Don't Trust The B---- In Apartment 23) are party vamp-pals who get into wacky trouble when Ritter hooks up with a human dude who hails from the Van Helsing vamp-hunter family. I love the chicks but everything just comes across as dated as a walking corpse. Am I the wrong demographic for this? Probably. Looks like you have to come out of an ancient coffin to fully dig this.
