Hong Kong actress Charlie Young happy to reunite with former co-stars
Singer and actress Charlie Young, one of the biggest stars in Hong Kong in the mid-1990s, is happy to play a bit part in the crime thriller Cold War, which opens here tomorrow.
She tells Life! she did it to support the film's first-time directors Longman Leung and Sunny Luk.
In the movie, which centres on the rescue operation of a hijacked police van, she plays the feisty head of police public relations. "The moment I read the script I could tell that the two had done a lot of homework," says the actress, 38. "I thought if I could take part and support in a small way, I would do so happily."
It also meant that she got to reunite with two of her former co-stars Tony Leung Ka Fai and Aaron Kwok, who play rival deputy police commissioners in the new movie.
