Golden Globes: Amy Adams wins best musical/comedy actress
LOS ANGELES (AFP) - Amy Adams won the Golden Globe for best actress in a musical or comedy film Sunday, for her role in crime caper American Hustle.
Adams, 39, beat rivals Julie Delpy (Before Midnight), Greta Gerwig (Frances Ha), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Enough Said) and Meryl Streep (August: Osage County).
"I know I'm not supposed to (cry) and when a director asks me to cry, I can't cry. It sucks," she quipped, before recalling that this year is her 15th anniversary of coming to Hollywood with hopes of at least making a commercial.
She thanked American Hustle director David O. Russell for writing "amazing roles for women. Thank you so much for letting the world know that a princess can punch and wear a low-cut gown."
