Seven budding and established local composers, musicians and music producers have been named as recipients of government funding to produce original theme songs for local television dramas.

They were selected from 55 local music producers and music production companies that submitted 103 song demos to score and produce theme songs for MediaCorp's Malay, English and Chinese TV dramas.

Their music will get national exposure on both free-to-air television and radio.

The selected seven are music companies Funkie Monkies Productions, The Red Planet Group, Wise Entertainment, and composers Shabir Tabare Alam, 28, Serene Koong, in her early 30s, Saravanan Siva, 32, and Riza Hamizan Mahmod, 23.
