Gone is the run-down Turf City with its mishmash of tenants. Enter The Grandstand which is now home to more than 20 food and beverage outlets, offering an interesting mix of cuisines that range from hearty burgers - meat or vegan - to Japanese and Italian fare. There is a gelato joint, bakeries and patisseries and wine shops and even a Spanish Chinese dim sum cafe and tapas restaurant.
New management Cogent Land Capital, a wholly owned subsidiary of listed Singapore logistics company Cogent Holdings won the bid for the more than 178,000 sq m plot, which comprises the old grandstands and carparks, in October 2011.
The whole sprucing-up project is costing the company $20 million.
