Feat of clay
Classes with master potter Iskandar Jalil, started Suriani Suratman's journey with clay.
The lecturer at the National University of Singapore's Department of Malay Studies loves working with raku, a coarse form of clay that lends an organic texture to the fluid forms she creates.
This can be seen in her first solo titled Alam, a Malay word which refers to the world, the environment and the natural surroundings.
The exhibition, which opens at Art-2 Gallery this Thursday, includes 60 works priced between $100 and $800.
